Man in Court after migrants discovered in Newhaven Port

A man has appeared in court in Brighton (19th Feb 24) after migrants were discovered in the back of a van at Newhaven ferry port.

42-year-old Anas Al Mustafa from Swansea in Wales, is accused of assisting unlawful entry to the UK following the major incident on Friday morning (16th Feb 24) in which Ambulance, Police and Border Force were all in attendance.

6 people were taken to hospital, one person is in a critical condition, 4 are still needing medical treatment. Mustafa has been remanded in custody to appear back in court next month.
